Background Information
The aims of this project were to design a new recycling bin for Hong Kong Street. In Hong Kong urban life, what are the disappointing things actually? The answer is there are around 40,000 public rubbish bins surrounding us. Thus, Hong Kong is a cosmopolitan city that should contain a higher quality recycling bin instead of the waste bin on the street nowadays.
There are a lot of rubbish bins on the street but there are not many recycling bins the streets, including the four types of recycling bins. Which are Green for glass, Blue for paper, Yellow for aluminum cans, and Brown for plastic. It is very hard to find one, especially the green recycling bin. And also all of these are independent of standing in the places. Which are not combined and considering about the landfills and land supply is not enough, and the public hygienic problem. I am not sure the rubbish bins in Hong Kong nowadays are good enough for the public. The Hong Kong Government, together with a number of recycling organizations that provide different types of services and support, has formulated and implemented a number of programs in regard to waste reduction and recycling. However, these programs are not well known to the public due to their weak promotions.
The contributions of this study which is going to design street furniture, giving suggestions for EPD of the government to improve and considerate and build up the new solutions for enhancing people to recycle. Using the research for the study presents conclusions for organizing and understanding the behavioral patterns, recycling, and spatial characteristics to provide a comprehensive reference for designers and policymakers. Moreover, using product design and knowledge to change our lifestyle and embellish the living environment is related to our fundamental rights and duties of the residents.

這是一個有關香港街道傢具的產品設計，基於現今街道上的垃圾桶及全封閉式的回收箱，有著種種不足，例如：並不方便清潔和使用、透明度不足，垃圾桶的數量及分佈太多、大小等等問題。所以這個項目是專為香港，重新設計一個新的垃圾及回收箱。同時，考慮到現今的環境問題和香港減廢方案，比起亞洲地區的 其他國家落後，所以有必要擁有一個新的垃圾及回收箱。
The Street Furniture Design - The E- CLE Bin
The E-CLE BIN is the waste and recycling bin for replace the rubbish bin and recycling bin on the street. It has highlighted the basic concept of recycle and the storage size of the recycling waste and normal waste. The product name of this design which combined the concepts of ECO- FRIENDLY, RECYCLE and CIRCULAR.
The design of this recycling bin is similar to nowadays waste bin on the street. The features of this design is using the original existing waste bin and recycling bin to develop. But which is containing different features and functions. The development is focusing on the function. Applying the bearing, the recycling frames and the stander into this design are for the cleaner easier to clean compare with other existing recycling bin and waste bin. Each of the recycling frame are existence independently and for different wastes. The cleaner clean the bins easily due to the stander with the bearing is for turning to change the plastic bag. They just need to open the door and pull out the frame to change the plastic bags. And then, turn around the stander to change other 3 bins. They do not need to move out the cover and open the door four times anymore.

街道傢具設計: The E-CLE Bin
The E-CLE Bin的概念中，E取了教育、環保、容易和方便的意念，CLE取了回收的意念，整體E-CLE的讀音和綠化(ECO)相似，希望能帶出和突顯環保意識。
這個設計加入了更多對方便清潔和回收的元素，例如：更換垃圾袋的方法、回收箱和入口大小、圓身以及半開放式設計等等。此外，考慮到香港的環境和天氣，加入圓拱形的上蓋可以杜絕積水，和防止市民把垃圾置於回收箱的上方；回收箱的上蓋印上各種指示;透明的門和不銹鋼的框架，可以使回收箱內的情況更清楚。相比現今街道上的垃圾桶，高二十厘米，闊十厘米，減低了原來的垃圾桶容量，並加入了三種回收箱。並且把入口改小了和移除了原有的回收箱入口掩門。使整體回收方法更簡單。物料方面，考慮到可持續發展和環境保護，會採用一些環保物料，例如：玻璃纖維、強化玻璃、不銹鋼等等。使回收箱更耐用、易於清潔和防水。
這項設計將分三階段推出。首階段將會試在校園內推行，以作教育用途，從而培養下一代對回收箱使用的方法有回收的習慣。再從而一逐步取代街道上現的垃圾桶，減少現有垃圾桶的數量和分佈。
